The North Sumatra Incubator Institutions Meeting served as a strategic opportunity to strengthen synergy and collaboration among incubator institutions in the North Sumatra region to support the development of entrepreneurship, innovation, and the growth of technology- and knowledge-based businesses.

The event, led by M. Riza Damanik, Deputy for Micro Enterprises at the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia, was attended by various incubator institutions, universities, government agencies, business actors, and stakeholders committed to building a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of the role of incubator institutions as catalysts for the emergence of new entrepreneurs who are innovative, adaptive, and highly competitive at both the national and global levels.

This forum serves as a platform for discussion, sharing experiences, and aligning programs among incubator institutions as they address various challenges in business development and innovation. Through strong collaboration, incubator institutions are expected to provide more effective support to their tenants—ranging from strengthening business models, securing access to financing, and developing technology to marketing and expanding business networks.

The Directorate of Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Science and Technology Parks at the University of North Sumatra (DIT.IPBKST.USU) actively participated in this event as a demonstration of USU’s commitment to supporting the development of the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in North Sumatra. DIT.IPBKST.USU’s participation is expected to strengthen collaborative networks with various incubator institutions, the business community, and the government in promoting the commercialization of research results, the development of technology-based startups, and the creation of innovative entrepreneurs who make a tangible impact on society.

Through this North Sumatra Business Incubator Forum, it is hoped that strategic measures will be developed to strengthen the role of incubators as centers for business mentoring and development, while also supporting the achievement of the national entrepreneurship rate target. This event also plays a vital role in building an inclusive, sustainable, and competitive innovation ecosystem to support both regional and national economic development.
