This visit served as a strategic opportunity to introduce various programs and innovations developed by DIT IPBKST USU to support the commercialization of research outcomes, innovation-based business development, and mentoring for MSME operators. In addition, the meeting also served as a forum for discussing opportunities for collaboration in enhancing the capacity of microenterprises through the use of technology, innovation, and the strengthening of partnership networks.

On that occasion, Riza Damanik expressed his appreciation for the various initiatives undertaken by the University of North Sumatra through DIT IPBKST to build an innovation ecosystem integrated with the needs of the community and the business sector. According to him, universities play a vital role as centers for the development of science, technology, and innovation that can provide added value to strengthen the competitiveness of UMKM.

Meanwhile, officials from the DIT IPBKST at USU presented various flagship programs that have been implemented, ranging from business incubation and the development of technology-based startups to the commercialization of research results and mentoring for UMKM operators to help them improve product quality, expand market access, and enhance their competitiveness at both the national and global levels

Through this visit, it is hoped that closer cooperation will be established between the Ministry of MSMEs and the University of North Sumatra in developing innovation-based microbusiness empowerment programs. This collaboration is expected to accelerate the emergence of new entrepreneurs, enhance the capacity of MSME actors, and foster the creation of an innovation ecosystem that contributes to national economic growth.
The event concluded with a discussion session, a tour of the DIT IPBKST USU facilities, and a group photo as a symbol of the commitment to strengthen the synergy between the government and universities in supporting the advancement of Indonesia’s UMKM.
