This event aims to provide lecturers, researchers, and inventors with a comprehensive understanding of the technical guidelines for implementing the program, ranging from the application process, implementation stages, and commercialization strategies to opportunities for collaboration with industry and government partners. Through this outreach session, participants also gained information on improving the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) as a strategic step toward commercializing research outcomes.

The Director of the IPBKST Directorate at USU stated that the commercialization program is a key tool for bridging the gap between academic research outcomes and the needs of the community and the business sector. Therefore, a thorough understanding of the technical guidelines is essential to ensure that the program’s implementation proceeds effectively and purposefully, yielding outputs that offer added value and competitiveness.

In addition to presenting technical guidelines, this event also served as a forum for discussion between participants and speakers to address various challenges and opportunities in the process of research commercialization. Through constructive dialogue, it is hoped that stronger synergies can be built among universities, the government, industry, and other stakeholders to support the acceleration of the commercialization of innovative products.
With the holding of this event, the IPBKST Directorate at USU hopes that more research findings and innovations will be developed into products, technologies, and services that provide tangible benefits to society, enhance the nation’s competitiveness, and support innovation-driven economic growth.

This initiative is also in line with the University of North Sumatra’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through strengthening research and innovation; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting economically valuable and competitive innovations; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaboration among universities, the government, industry, and various strategic partners to accelerate the downstream development and commercialization of research outcomes.
