USU Directorate of Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Science and Technology Area Wishes You a Happy Youth Pledge Day, October 28, 2026

MEDAN – The Directorate of Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Science and Technology Area (Dit. IPBKST) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) wishes everyone a Happy Youth Pledge Day, commemorated on October 28, 2026.

Youth Pledge Day is an important moment to commemorate the spirit of struggle demonstrated by Indonesian youth, who pledged their commitment to unity through the Youth Pledge on October 28, 1928. This historic event became an important milestone in Indonesia’s journey as a nation and a reminder that differences in ethnicity, religion, language, and culture are not barriers to unity in pursuing shared aspirations.

The spirit of unity inherited from previous generations of Indonesian youth must continue to be upheld and translated into concrete actions, particularly by the younger generation as the nation’s future. Amid the changing times and rapid advances in science and technology, young people have a strategic role in driving change, developing creativity, and delivering innovative solutions to various challenges faced by society.

In line with this role, the USU Directorate of Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Science and Technology Area emphasizes the importance of strengthening innovation, research, and collaboration as part of efforts to develop excellent and competitive human resources. The younger generation is expected not only to become technology users but also to generate ideas, research, and innovations that provide tangible benefits to society and contribute to Indonesia’s progress.

In the context of sustainable development, the creativity and participation of young people are important forces in creating a better future. Through the utilization of science and technology, the development of local potential, and cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration, various innovations can be developed to address social, economic, environmental, and regional development challenges.

Higher education institutions play an important role in supporting this spirit through education, research, community service, and the development of innovation ecosystems. Universitas Sumatera Utara, through various academic activities and innovation development initiatives, continues to provide opportunities to foster a young generation that is critical, creative, adaptive, and capable of making meaningful contributions to society.

This year’s Youth Pledge Day is expected to serve as a reminder to the entire academic community, particularly students and young people, to continue strengthening unity, developing their capabilities, and having the courage to take part in creating positive change. National spirit should not stop at ceremonial commemorations, but should be manifested through achievements, social awareness, and tangible contributions to national development.

United in spirit, creating through innovation, and moving forward together toward a more advanced and sustainable Indonesia. By upholding the values of unity and the spirit of mutual cooperation, the younger generation is expected to become a driving force for innovation and a strategic partner in realizing an excellent, self-reliant, and competitive Indonesia.

The USU Directorate of Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Science and Technology Area calls on all young people to continue fostering the spirit of unity, developing creativity, strengthening collaboration, and utilizing science, research, and innovation as foundations for building the nation’s future.

One Homeland, One Nation, One Language, Indonesia!

Happy Youth Pledge Day, October 28, 2026. Let us continue moving forward together, creating for the nation, and becoming part of the change toward a more advanced and sustainable Indonesia.
